About ASDL

From state-of-the-art facilities to a legacy of leadership in analysis and design of complex systems and decision making. ASDL has the resources and experience to tackle real world problems for the benefit of its sponsors and its students. Learn more about how ASDL has become a leader in systems engineering research.

Our faculty and students are continually engaged in pushing the state of the art of design and systems engineering. In recognition for these efforts many members of ASDL have received awards and honors.

Formulate, develop, and implement comprehensive approaches to the design of affordable and high quality complex systems.

ASDL is a Center of Excellence recognized by:

  • General Electric in Robust Systems Design and Optimization under the University Strategic Alliance (GE USA)
  • The National Aeronautics and Space Administration under the University Research Engineering Technology Institute (URETI) on Aeropropulsion and Power Technology (UAPT) program
  • The Federal Aviation Administration for Aircraft Noise and Aviation Emissions Mitigation

Over the years ASDL has formed several partnerships to ensure the right resources are available for the research being performed.

The Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory was founded in 1992 with a handful of students. Today the organization has grown to nearly 250 strong.

The aim of current and future research at ASDL is to be a leader in aerospace systems design.
