Eric Van Gehuchten
Eric Van Gehuchten is an aerospace engineering master’s student from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His goal is to enter industry in spacecraft or automotive systems engineering. In his free time, Eric participates in auto motorsport driving, tuning, and engineering.
Eric is currently researching flapping wing micro air vehicle system sizing through energy based methods. This will aid in further development of biologically inspired air vehicles for a variety of tasks from surveillance to search and rescue.
Further research has been conducted for a Grand Challenge in analysis of autonomy in Mine Countermeasures for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City. Using autonomous mission simulation and discrete event simulation, a measure of the benefits and costs of autonomous systems in mine warfare is being developed.
