Mars Camp 2004

Many kids have fun at Summer Camp each year, learning valuable lessons about cooperation, outdoors skills and applied science in a team-centered, hands-on, fun environment. At the same time, going to Mars is a topic that consistently triggers young people's interest in science and technology. So why not offer a Mars Exploration-themed summer camp that combines the best of both worlds? The Mars Society Georgia Chapter is doing just that.

Mars Camp is designed to give boys and girls 11 to 14 years old an opportunity for personal growth in a meaningful and inspiring context. Mars Camp teaches valuable scientific and social skills during a physically and academically challenging camp experience that focuses on the human exploration of the Red Planet.

Mars Camp is hosted by the Mars Society Georgia Chapter in the scenic mountains of north Georgia at Wahsega 4-H Center with support from the Mars Society student chapter at the Georgia Institute of Technology.*

During Mars Camp, youths will participate in challenging outdoor events and academically rigorous hands-on classes taught by educators and scientists. In addition, participants enjoy traditional summer camp activities such as arts and crafts and evening campfires. At the end of Mars Camp, successful participants will be awarded their graduation certificate.

Mars Camp introduces young people to the excitement and challenge of science, technology and exploration, and encourages them to pursue meaningful careers in these fields and to contribute to what will be their generation’s greatest adventure: becoming a truly space-faring civilization.
