Michelle R. Kirby
Dr. Michelle R. Kirby is a Senior Research Engineer within the School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she leads the ASDL’s Civil Aviation Research Division. In her current position, Dr. Kirby leads and manages multi-disciplinary research teams to be a leader in civil aviation research that will benefit society, government, and industrial decision makers with respect to aviation impacts on communities, global climate, economics, operations, and R&D investments while educating the next generation of engineers. The primary focus of our research has been to mitigate the environmental impact of aviation with innovative solutions of technology, operations, and alternative fuel options.
With close collaboration with other ASDL divisions initiatives, Dr. Kirby leads research to assess the environmental landscape of advanced concepts and propulsion systems using state-of-the-art techniques to provide decision makers with data driven analysis for numerous U.S. aeronautical R&D programs and for international and national policy making.
