ASDL Researcher Wins Sustainability Next Education Seed Grant
ASDL Senior Research Engineer Dr. Jung-Ho Lewe has been awarded a seed grant to develop and launch a new course focused on sustainability. His proposal, “Scaling Principles of Smart and Sustainable Built Environment Course into a UN Sustainability Pathway,” for an Undergraduate Sustainability Education Innovation Grant was one of 13 selected for funding in the fifth round of Sustainability Next education seed grants.
The Undergraduate Sustainability Education Innovation Grants at Georgia Tech fund faculty to integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into core curricula, high-enrollment courses, and electives.
The selection process was highly competitive, with each proposal scored by several reviewers from a team that included faculty from the Sustainability Education and Curriculum Committee and the Center for Teaching and Learning.
Dr. Lewe received the grant along with Dr. Zhaohu (Jonathan) Fan of the Scheller School of Business and Dr. Patrick Kastner of the School of Architecture. This team has collaborated on other projects at Georgia Tech focused on sustainability. This grant will serve as a catalyst, providing the long-awaited momentum to launch a “Principles of Smart Sustainable Built Environment” course at Georgia Tech.
